Big night in Hotlanta! I’m Shawn Roberts, the voice of RFW, ready to take you through everything you need to know about this week’s show.
Welcome to Rapid Fire Wrestling!
Ready Any Time
We started things off with RFW Tag Team Champions coming to the ring to address the crowd in the RFW Arena. The Navigators came to the ring dressed in their ring gear and called out Chucky Arter and Eric Waves.
Aidan North had a history lesson for us all.
“You two challenged us earlier this year and after that I match I told you something. I told you that wasn’t your night but it easily could have been. Since then, you’ve only gotten better and now here you are looking for another crack that these belts.” -Aidan North
Pete Arrow took a long look at Arter and Waves before asking them when they feel ready for another chance at the titles.
“The answer tonight is the same answer we’d give any night. Any time. Any place. We’re ready to go.” -Chucky Arter
North considered Arter for a moment, nodded to Arrow, and then offered them a title shot right there on the spot. We got a tag team title match to start this show off, folks! Bet you didn’t see that comin’!
RFW Tag Team Championship Match
Chucky Arter and Eric Waves vs. The Navigators (c)
These two teams are no strangers to each other and they showed it by putting on an awesome opening match! Arter and Waves were fast and more aggressive here than when they last challenged The Navigators in the spring. The Navigators, for their part, fought every bit like the dominant champions they have been. This was a tight match from start to finish.
North had an opportunity to fly from the top but Waves ran across the ring apron and drop kicked his legs out from under him. North fell to the mat where Arter scooped him up and drilled him to the mat with a brain buster. Arter covered and though he kicked out, you couldn’t fit a hair between the referee’s palm and the mat. It was that close.
Arrow revved up with some powerful slams as this match rolled on. Arter was on the receiving end of a buckle bomb and was then flattened to the mat with a brutal clothesline. Once again, this was a heart stopping moment where The Navigators nearly had this one in the pocket but Arter’s shoulders just lifted off the mat before the three count.
The action spilled to the outside where North dove off the turnbuckle onto Arter but Waves did an insane missile dropkick from the turnbuckle as well. Arrow drove Waves through the ring steps, Arter used a hurricanrana on North that sent him head first into the barricade.
The action returned to the ring with the crowd loud and loving this! We were treated to more action but it was ultimately a shooting star press from North onto Waves that secured the pinfall win for The Navigators.
The Navigators continue their legendary championship run here in RFW but Aidan North and Pete Arrow graciously shook hands with Eric Waves and Chucky Arter. No shame in losing this one. These guys gave it their all and easily could have been holding gold tonight. I expect it will happen but for now, The Navigators wait for their next challengers.
Back to School
We went backstage to the RFW wrestling school where Kimberly Kennedy met with Preston Montgomery who had an announcement for the RFW audience. As it turned out, Montgomery enrolled himself into RFW’s wrestling school so he could come back better than ever and become a champion again.
Kennedy asked Montgomery how his partner, Mikey Armstrong, felt about the situation and Montgomery had a surprising answer.
“Kimberly, I haven’t talked to Mikey and to be completely honest with you, I don’t really care what he thinks. Maybe he should join me here at the school so he can learn how to take things seriously, have the eye of the tiger, and actually show some determination instead of being some carefree goofball.” -Preston Montgomery
With that, Montgomery walked off into a training ring.
United
Also backstage, through a light haze of smoke, we found Lost Cause (all three of them!) with Ridge preparing for their match with The Four Elements. Rus Samson approached Ridge with Cool Spencer and Paisley Alden at his sides. Samson handed Ridge something.
“It’s a shirt. A Lost Cause shirt. We all talked it over and felt that you belong with us. Put it on. You stood by my friends and you refused to let them, or me, give up on each other.” -Rus Samson
Ridge wasted no time donning the Lost Cause shirt and officially joined the ranks of this rag tag crew! Ridge high fived and hugged his new teammates while Samson was just happy to all be on the same page again.
Samson and Ridge walked out of the room to get ready for their match. Spencer and Alden lingered for a moment and shared a strange expression before following behind.
Keira Ryan vs. Phueng Ahunai
This has been a good year for new stars in RFW. Phueng Ahunai has had a great first year here and Keira Ryan was so impressive as a free agent that RFW kept her around full time. It was inevitable that they would clash, and clash they have! In this singles rematch, both women were out to show the other they were the true breakout star.
Ahunai fought with aggression but maintained control of her emotions which made her very dangerous. Ryan fought back and showed steady determination to counter Ahunai. Ahunai’s attitude throughout this match suggested she just wanted to get it over with and I think that cost her dearly. Ryan was more focused. Ahunai’s attempt at a flipping neckbreaker was blocked and Ryan fired back with a guillotine choke into a DDT. In the end, it was Ryan who secured a win by pinfall in a close and hotly contested match!
Keira Ryan was declared the winner while Phueng Ahunai glared at her from outside the ring before storming off.
Solo Again
We returned to the backstage area where Kimberly Kennedy stood by with Ruslan Panov who saw his partnership with Rex Anarchy collapse last week.
Kennedy asked about the abrupt end of Lords of Chaos and Anarchy’s betrayal.
“I’ve been doing this long enough to know when something doesn’t feel right and I knew it was only a matter of time before Rex tried to turn on me. I saw this coming and I was ready for it.” -Ruslan Panov
Panov said he was disappointed if not surprised but also angry that Anarchy cost him a chance at the RFW Grand Championship. Panov promised he would not let Anarchy’s betrayal go unanswered.
Wellness Check
Also backstage, RFW Commissioner Aurora Starkey invited Maria Estrella into her office. Estrella endured a brutal verbal and emotional takedown from Jessie Vega and Starkey expressed concern for Estrella.
“Maria, I know this year hasn’t been easy for you and what happened last week was as cold hearted as it gets. I want you competing in that ring, but more than anything else, I want you to be ok. I’m concerned for your emotional state.” -Aurora Starkey
Estrella looked unwell, if I’m being honest, maybe exhausted? There was still an ember burning inside of her, though.
“You are worried about me? I want you listen well. Jessie has broken me but I’m not going to let her win. I’m not done here in RFW. It’s been a while since I’ve been RFW World Champion and I think it’s time I get back on track. I will not let Jessie Vega, Lee Lee Hunt, or anyone else stand in the way of that. I know how this works. I need to remove an obstacle first. I will not stop until Jessie is no longer an obstacle. And I will remove that obstacle no matter what it takes.” -Maria Estrella
Estrella walked out of Starkey’s office but the Commish’s expression subtly changed from concern to appreciation. Maria Estrella is back.
Mia Mercury vs. Annika
Mia Mercury and Annika have been battling all season and this match was the tie breaker. Eyes were on Mercury’s damaged knee in this match because the inaugural RFW Wildheart Champion has been favoring it and she’s no stranger to knee injuries. Annika knew this which made the story of this fight one of pride, maybe to a fault, and bloodthirsty precision.
Mercury looked fine here in the early moments of this match if not a little slower than usual. Her lack of reliance on her usual high flying and high risk attacks proved to be a weakness allowing Annika to get an upper hand. Once Annika got ahold of Mercury’s knee, it became a very different match. Annika was focused on one thing, stopping Mercury’s mobility.
It worked. Mercury’s knee became more of a problem as the match continued. I give Mercury credit for trying but this encounter proved to be too much. Annika won this painful match by submission by using an arm breaker.
Annika was declared the winner. Mia Mercury lay on the mat in a mix of pain and frustration. Annika stood over her before grabbing her arm and threatening for another arm breaker. As if this poor girl wasn’t in enough pain! Annika was about to lock it in when she was stopped by Meghan DeWitt’s music piping into the arena. DeWitt, who was taken out of action by Annika, ran to the ring and cleared Annika from it.
DeWitt tended to her friend, Mia Mercury. It looks like Meghan DeWitt is back but I was able to confirm after the show that Mercury is headed off for knee surgery and will be out a while. We wish her the best. As for DeWitt, I’m sure she’ll have something to say next week!
Back in her Good Graces
Backstage, Lucia Mendez was approached by her old boyfriend and recent Unstoppable Sports Drink spokesperson, Andre Jordan. Incredibly, Jordan came to offer an apology to Mendez for his behavior. Mendez looked unsure but accepted it and wanted to put everything behind her now. Jordan agreed.
Well, he agreed to put their rocky 2025 as a couple behind them but he was looking to get Mendez back, even offering to take her on her dream vacation to Spain but she refused and made it clear that she doesn’t want anything to go with him anymore.
Jordan was insulted and said he was giving up on her for good but not before berating her about it until Kenneth Cobb stepped in and chased him off. Jordan yelled to Cobb that he would regret ever getting involved in his personal business.
Lost Cause vs. The Four Elements
The bigger, better Lost Cause came ready to finally put their trouble with The Four Elements behind them. The showdown was an eight-person mixed tag team match and it started off pretty exciting! Rus Samson started things off for Lost Cause and let out a lot of pent up aggression on Marcus and Tommy V. Samson’s attempt to lure Killer Malone into the ring was denied. Malone just watched Samson with a cool stare.
Ridge tagged in and showed what a quarter century of wrestling experience looks like. A tag back to Samson for a double team looked solid and Lost Cause was looking great here.
Samson went to tag in Cool Spencer and that’s when everything changed. Spencer avoided the tag, hopping to the floor with Paisley Alden. They looked at Samson for a moment and then left! The Four Elements were stunned but then broke into laughter at this shocking situation!
Samson and Ridge were left alone against The Four Elements. As good as those guys are, two against four of the best in the industry is a very tall task and one too tall for this duo to overcome. The Four Elements were the winners of this match and they celebrated with a brutal four-on-two beatdown. And here I thought
Another Clash
The Iconoclast, RFW Grand Champion, came to the ring with Dezzy Nightshade to address his upcoming title defense against Mark Blood. The Iconoclast declared himself a fighting champion and had a message for his challenger.
“Mr. Blood, I have come to respect you after our many battles but you must understand that I have proven dominant while you have been missing for nearly a year. Do you believe you have what it takes to defeat me now? I have my doubts. Come here. Speak with me.” -The Iconoclast
The champion called out Mark Blood and Mark Blood arrived. Champion and challenger stood face-to-face before Blood explained that he put on the performance of a lifetime last year and trained hard for a comeback so he can do it again.
“I see you as a great champion but I have no doubts I can beat you. Again. If you thought the marathon of title matches I had last year was my best, you underestimate me. I intend to win the RFW Grand Championship once again and give all of these fans another title run they will never forget!” -Mark Blood
The Iconoclast and Blood had a heated debate that ended when The Iconoclast feigned walking away before coming back in for a clothesline. Blood ducked it but was hit by Nightshade’s purple mist. Blood stood there like a zombie after Nightshade’s poisonous spit and fell victim to a chokeslam plwerbomb by The Iconoclast which effectively set the tone for this upcoming title defense. It was a match build initially on respect but is now anything but!
RFW World Championship Match
Yurei vs. Kassidy Fortune (c)
This show was absolutely stacked this week and on top of everything we’ve covered, we still had a high stakes main event! Yurei, one of the most fearsome competitors in RFW, came to the ring looking to secure the RFW World Championship, held by Kassidy Fortune.
The bell rang and Yurei ran from her corner like a bullet, spearing Fortune so hard she hit the turnbuckle and crumbled to the mat. One! Two! Three! New champion??? Na, just kidding. But it was close. Fortune kicked out but was clearly unprepared for the absolute bullet fired by Yurei. This set the tone for this match as Yurei was vicious against the champion as the match continued.
Yurei tried to lock in an anaconda choke but Fortune was able to free herself and counter with a cutter! One! Two! Na, I know you won’t fall for that again. Yurei kicked out but, again, this was a close one. Fortune began to regain some footing in this defense and dug deep to show why she’s been champion for one day shy of a year.
The battle spilled to the outside where Yurei attempted to crush Fortune’s skull against the steel steps but Fortune rolled away and Yurei crashed knee first into the steps. Yurei screamed in agony as Fortune wisely attacked the leg. Back in the ring, Fortune was closing in on a victory when Yurei surprised her with an anaconda choke. Fortune broke the hold by the ropes but Yurei wasted no time trying to capitalize.
Yurei tried for another spear but fell victim to a cutter. Fortune picked Yurei up and used a second cutter for good measure before covering for a pin and successfully defending the RFW World Championship once again.
Kassidy Fortune survived an absolutely grueling bout. The champion looked strong in victory but was clearly feeling the effects of one of the toughest people to ever compete in RFW. Fortune held up the RFW World Championship belt in victory but had her attention directed to the entranceway when Alexandra Morgan’s music began to play throughout the RFW Arena. Fortune watched as the RFW Wildheart Champion marched to the ring with Claudia Winter by her side. We couldn’t hear the conversation but it was clear that Morgan had come out to challenge Fortune. Both women stood face-to-face holding their respective championship belts high.
Morgan pointed to Fortune’s belt as she walked off and left the ring to the World Champ. Fortune watched Morgan and Winter with a concerned eye before continuing her celebration in front of the fans and that’s where this week’s show came to a close. I know you want to know where all of this is going and you’ll have to come back here for those answers and more. See you next week, Rapid Fire Fanatics!
