Location: RFW Arena in Atlanta, GA
We are back to the action with intense battles, a number one contender match, and all the drama and intrigue you’ve come to expect. I’m Shawn Roberts bringing you every detail on our latest show. Buckle up, Rapid Fire Fanatics, because here we go!
Welcome to Rapid Fire Wrestling!
Mikey Armstrong and Preston Montgomery vs. Chucky Arter and Eric Waves
We’ve got two teams who want to challenge The Navigators for the RFW Tag Team Championship and they kicked off our show fighting to see which of them was the better team.
Arter and Waves really looked solid here early on but Armstrong and Montgomery showed their development as a team and stayed in this match to give us action that swayed back and forth.
Montgomery was showing real fire throughout the match and nearly picked up the win after pins on both Waves and Arter but he couldn’t keep them down. In the end, Waves dove off the top rope with a frog splash and covered Montgomery for a pin to win this match.
So Chucky Arter and Eric Waves were the winners here and celebrated in the ring but it was outside the ring that caught my attention. Mikey Armstrong looked disappointed but happy to have had a match, as always. Preston Montgomery, however, not so much. He stormed off, leaving Armstrong confused.
Unstoppable Spokesman
If you followed last week’s show you’ll remember that Andre Jordan pulled up to the arena in a very expensive looking Corvette.
And then Kenneth Cobb smashed it.
If you were wondering where Jordan got the money for such a nice car, he came to the ring to proudly explain that. Jordan came to the ring flanked by some suits carrying swag bags and a cooler and followed the former RFW Grand Champion into the ring. Jordan explained that he’s the new spokesperson for Unstoppable Sports Drinks, some hot new brand with, apparently, a lot of financial backing! These charisma-free suits began throwing t-shirts into the crowd while Jordan watched on and held an ice cold bottle of Unstoppable in his hand.
“Unstoppable knows excellence when they see it which is why they tapped me to be their spokesman. It’s as simple as this, people. They saw me as the ultimate athlete here in RFW which, hey, to be fair, it’s not hard to pick out the cream of the crop when you are looking at a roster full of slobs like Kenneth Cobb.” -Andre Jordan
Yeah, out came Cobb who came to put a damper on this cringe-worthy promotional vehicle.
“You know something, Andre. You’re a fraud and everybody knows it with the exception of these nimrods running Unstoppable, which by the way, I’ve never even heard of. What a waste of money spending it on someone like you. Please, I’m begging you, do us all a favor and take your ripoff Gatorade with you.” -Kenneth Cobb
Jordan laughed Cobb off, then got concerned and told Cobb he looked more tired than usual, offering him a sports drink. Cobb considered, opened a bottle of Unstoppable, and took a sip. It looked like Cobb had a change of heart here because he drank some more, began smiling, and patted Jordan on the shoulder in a show of camaraderie. Cobb’s smile faded, however, and he splashed the rest of the drink in Jordan’s face before brawling with him.
Jordan fled the ring, furious that Cobb ruined his moment, and then dodged bottles of Unstoppable as Cobb threw them at him.
Rus Samson vs. Killer Malone w/The Four Elements
I heard that The Four Elements specifically asked for this match. Rus Samson found himself standing alone against Killer Malone who had the backing of the Four Elements outside the ring.
This marked Malone’s first match since returning to RFW and he clearly had not missed a step. Samson was strong as ever and more focused than he’s been in years so this match was a showcase of brawling and power moves. Samson threw Malone from a gorilla press and went for a cover but that’s when Shannon Worth, Marcus, and Tommy V dove into the ring and began brutally assaulting Samson. This one ended in a DQ but the violence had only just begun.
Samson was kicked, punched, choked, beaten with a chair, and all kinds of torture until his Lost Cause buddies, Cool Spencer and Paisley Alden, along with Ridge dove into the ring to make the save. The Four Elements scattered as Spencer helped Samson to his feet.
This was a tense moment, fans. Samson stood opposite of Spencer, Alden, and Ridge while Spencer and Alden tried to smooth things over with him. Samson looked to the audience for guidance and the RFW fans in attendance made it clear they wanted to see these friends make up. Samson accepted a handshake from Spencer before pulling him in for a hug. Alden jumped onto both of them in a midair bearhug. As Lost Cause dispersed from their human entanglement, Samson shook hands with Ridge. The four left the ring together and look to be on the same page now which is ever important seeing as they’ve all got targets on their backs from The Four Elements.
Preston Montgomery Doesn’t Just Want To Have Fun
We went backstage to find Mikey Armstrong catching up with Preston Montgomery. Montgomery was angrily packing his gear bag and Armstrong asked what the problem was because he felt they had a good match, even in defeat. Montgomery glared at his partner and offered a very direct explanation.
“You know something, Mikey? It’s great that you are just ‘happy to be here’ and having fun but you know something? I’m not having fun! Having the privilege of wrestling in the RFW ring is something I’m proud of but we aren’t going anywhere. We lose a match, a critical match, and you’re like ‘Ah, well.’ I wish you would just take something seriously for once! Just once! For me! For yourself! We shouldn’t have lost tonight but we did and that should bother you.” -Preston Montgomery
Montgomery stormed off leaving Armstrong at a loss for words.
Foolish. Disrespectful.
Preston Montgomery blew past Kimberly Kennedy in the backstage area where she was standing next to Annika. They watched Montgomery pass by and looked at each other confused before Kennedy started their interview.
Kennedy brought up Annika’s matches with Mia Mercury and how she felt about Mercury’s determination despite dealing with an injury.
“I’m sorry. Determination? How about foolishness. Stubbornness. She shouldn’t have accepted a rematch with me if she was that hurt. She got lucky when she defeated me two weeks ago and got a bum leg out of the deal. I didn’t know how bad when I challenged her but I sure did once started fighting. Kimberly, I hope she’ll do the right thing and go on the injured list with her pal, Meghan DeWitt, because she’s just going to embarrass herself with that, what was it? Determination of hers?” -Annika
Mia Mercury walked up to Annika while this interview was in progress and had a comment of her own.
“Sorry, Kimberly, but I can’t listen to this anymore. Annika, I don’t know why you’ve gotten so mean. Maybe you’ve always been that way. Whatever the reason is, I won’t listen to this disrespect. I’m here and I’m still standing and as long as I can, I can wrestle. You want to do this again? Next week. One more time. I promise I can beat you, bad knee or not.” -Mia Mercury
Annika did not look impressed but agreed to the match. It looks like we’ve got a rubber match between these two next week!
RFW Grand Championship Number One Contender Match
Ruslan Panov w/Rex Anarchy vs. Mark Blood
Big match here to determine the next contender for The Iconoclast’s RFW Grand Championship. Ruslan Panov and a returning Mark Blood have both made their intentions to compete for title known and the best way to determine which one of them comes first is to compete!
Blood and Panov locked up and eased into this one by testing each other out. Panov had a little advantage thanks to his Lords of Chaos tag partner, Rex Anarchy, hanging around ringside. Blood was solid here despite being out of action since last year and was building some strong momentum as this match went on. Panov crawled to the ropes to break a boston crab and slipped free of an attempt at a tombstone piledriver before bringing his own fight to Blood.
Panov missed a curb stomp, Blood used a dragon suplex and started a late match comeback until the action spilled to the outside. Panov and Blood brawled and thanks to Anarchy just being there gave Panov a bit of an advantage. This match ended up back in the ring and got intense until Blood was able to pull off a tombstone piledriver. Blood covered Panov for a pin and pulled off the win, sending him to a collision with The Iconoclast in the coming weeks.
Mark Blood celebrated the win and began walking backstage as Rex Anarchy helped Ruslan Panov to his feet. Panov looked disappointed while Anarchy stood behind him, watching him. And then, it happened. Panov turned around, Anarchy went to throw a sucker punch, but Panov blocked it and the Lords of Chaos stood nose-to-nose like statues until Anarchy slowly lowered his fist. Panov grinned as Anarchy, realizing what must have been a planned back stabbing, failed to hit his mark. Anarchy stepped back slowly and left the ring while Panov’s grin turned into a scowl.
We’ll need some answers on this one and I expect we’ll find out more next week.
The Truth
Jessie Vega has avoided confronting Maria Estrella but came down to the RFW ring with her record label rep, Lee Lee Hunt, by her side. Vega agreed to talk with Estrella if she could agree to be civil and not resort to violence. Estrella came to the ring and agreed to listen to what Vega had to say.
Vega admitted that she enjoyed her time with Estrella, for a while.
“Things were good at first. I had my best friend back. We traveled everywhere together. I had someone who was a true companion. Or so I thought. Then you became clingy like a puppy dog. You got overbearing. Annoying! If only people knew how exhausting it was to be with you! I put up with it as long as I could but then when it became clear that my career had more upside without you hanging off of me I knew the time was right. Life has only gotten better since I moved on from Maria Estrella.” -Jessie Vega
Estrella was clearly holding back tears here but stood firm, best as she can. Normally, I don’t quote someone multiple times in these results but I feel I need to make an exception.
“Oh, please! Stop getting upset. Do you all see what I mean? Just cry, Maria. Just cry. I don’t care. I’ve already moved on and I’ve got a boyfriend. This isn’t hard, Maria. It’s pathetic you are holding on to this for so long. We had fun and now I’m done. It’s not my problem if you can’t move on.” -Jessie Vega
See what I mean? Damn. For a wrestling promotion with “fire” in the name, this is one of the coldest things I’ve ever seen in a wrestling ring.
Estrella couldn’t say much but through her tears was able to say that she thought Vega loved her. Vega said that she did but ultimately just needed her for career advancement. I thought Estrella was going to leave. She should have. Instead, Estrella screamed while charging toward Vega but got sprayed with pepper spray by Lee Lee Hunt! Estrella was down, writhing on the mat holding her face while Vega and Hunt walked off with Hunt remarking to Estrella that she got everything that she deserved.
I’m sorry. Nobody deserves any of this.
Kassidy Fortune and Keira Ryan vs. Yurei and Phueng
That brings us to our main event. RFW World Champion Kassidy Fortune and newcomer Keira Ryan teamed up to take on Fortune’s next challenger, Yurei, and one of RFW’s fastest rising stars in Phueng Ahunai.
This was a strong tag team match considering these were two teams who never worked together before. Ryan and Ahunai had a moment where they battled it out and showed RFW fans why they belong here. Fortune worked like the dominant world champion she has been. Yurei dealt out an even more aggressive offense than ever and showing why she has a real shot at being the next champion.
Ryan and Fortune tried for a double suplex on Ahunai but Fortune was speared by Yurei. Ryan had no time to react as Yurei leapt to her feet and gave her a spin kick to the jaw. Ahunai used this to her advantage and things back in favor for her team. Ryan found herself caught in Yurei’s anaconda choke but Fortune was able to break it up. This one continued after Ryan made a hot tag to Fortune and the champion made a big comeback for their team.
Fortune was closing in on a win here but took a kick to the back while running the ropes from Ahunai on the ring apron. Fortune stumbled forward and took an eye gouge from Yurei thanks the referee’s attention on reprimanding Ahunai. Yurei speared the champion and pinned her the victory.
Yurei and Pheung Ahunai stood with their arms raised in victory just one week before Yurei challenges Kassidy Fortune for the RFW World Championship. Keira Ryan helped Fortune out of the ring while Yurei stood stoic in that ring locking eyes with the champion. Ahunai was positively giddy about their win and tried to celebrate with Yurei. Unfortunately, no joy for Ahunai as Yurei knocked her out with a spin kick.
That’s going to do it for us this week. Be sure to come back next week where we’ve got a big RFW World Championship match between Yurei and Kassidy Fortune. I also got word that Lost Cause with Ridge will take on The Four Elements in an eight person mixed tag match, Annika and Mia Mercury will be in action, RFW Tag Team Champions The Navigators will be in the house, RFW Grand Champion The Iconoclast will come face-to-face with his next challenger and old rival, Mark Blood, and plenty more!
See you next week, Rapid Fire Fanatics!
