MoW Final Round 2023 Results

Location: Austin, TX

2023 all comes down to this. All titles are on the line, careers are on the line, and rivals collide in the biggest show of the year.

Jessie Vega w/Maria Estrella vs. Mary Jane Elder

MoW’s biggest show of the year began with a clash between Jessie Vega and Mary Jane Elder. Vega embarrassed Elder in recent weeks but got a comeuppance when Elder savagely roasted her in front of the MoW audience.

Vega was caught off guard by Elder’s offense early in the match but Vega’s girlfriend, Maria Estrella, was at ringside and cheered her on. Vega got the better of Elder as the match continued but was unable to secure victory due to Elder getting her knees up to block a frogsplash.

Elder made a late match comeback and nearly won the match but Estrella pulled Vega out of the ring to break up a pin. Vega was scolded by the referee and tried to smooth the situation but Elder came up from behind and rolled Vega up for a pin. The referee made the three count and Elder was declared the winner. Vega and Estrella were furious outside the ring while Elder celebrated a big win in her budding career.

Mikey Armstrong vs. Killer Malone

Mikey Armstrong annoyed Killer Malone enough to get himself stuck in a match against an angrier than ever Malone. Armstrong avoided Malone early in the match until he got caught and thrown around the ring.

Armstrong blocked a body slam and countered with a vertical suplex. Armstrong looked proud but did not notice Malone’s quick recovery before walking right into a knockout punch. Malone covered for a pin to pick up a commanding victory.

Preston Montgomery vs. Pierre Laurent w/Claudia Winter

There was a time when Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent reigned atop the tag team division but after Claudia Winter kicked Montgomery out of The Diamond Peak the former partners have become bitter foes.

The former partners countered each other’s offense, knowing each other so well. Montgomery got the better of Laurent and fired up as he cleared Laurent from the ring. Laurent took direction from Winter ringside and returned to the ring though Montgomery continued to build his momentum.

Laurent dodged a drop kick and made a comeback. Montgomery proved hard to keep down, though Laurent covered for a pin after a neckbreaker. Laurent had victory in his grasp but Montgomery kicked out before the three count.

Laurent continued his offense while Winter looked anxious and paced back and forth. Montgomery blocked Laurent and dropped him with a DDT. The referee checked on Laurent while Montgomery tried to recover near the ropes. Winter slipped out of her heels and pressed one into Montgomery’s hand. Montgomery looked confused but discreetly used the heel to spike Laurent and pin him for the victory.

Preston Montgomery looked confused as Claudia Winter joined him in the ring. After a brief discussion, Winter raised Montgomery’s hand. Pierre Laurent got to his knees and looked devastated by the betrayal. Montgomery nailed Laurent with a boot to the face and left with Winter.

MoW Wildheart Championship Match

Tracy Blood vs. Kassidy Fortune (c)

Kassidy Fortune’s rise in MoW led her to capturing the MoW Wildheart Championship but Tracy Blood looked to stop that rise in a hard-hitting title match.

Blood came out strong early in the match with a mix of kickboxing and technical wrestling. Fortune was slowed but came back strong and answered Blood’s offense with a methodical string of slams.

Blood snuck a head kick but Fortune ducked and dropped her with a cutter. Blood kicked out at the last minute but Fortune refused to give up her momentum. Fortune focused her attacks on Blood’s left leg to neutralize the head kick which paid off in the end. Blood made a late match comeback and went for a head kick but the pivot on her left leg was too much and caused her to fall. Fortune capitalized and used a cutter to drop Blood and pin her for the victory.

Kassidy Fortune stood on the turnbuckles proudly holding the MoW Wildheart Championship while Tracy Blood slowly made her way backstage.

Steel Cage Match

Lucia Mendez and Andre Jordan vs. Paul Priest and Delilah

Paul Priest made Lucia Mendez’s life a living hell throughout 2023. Mendez and her partner, Andre Jordan, had enough leading to this steel cage match between Priest and his assistant, Delilah.

Mendez quickly took down Delilah before attacking Priest on her own while Jordan cheered her on. Priest tried to flee from the assault but had nowhere to go in the cage. Jordan extracted a measure of revenge on Priest himself while Mendez kept Delilah from getting involved. Priest used a low blow on Jordan and as Mendez approached Priest, Delilah suplexed her.

Priest commanded Delilah to attack Mendez and became frustrated with her when she was unable to keep Mendez down for a pin. Priest’s anger at Delilah backfired and his obedient assistant had enough, kicking Priest in the groin. Delilah slapped and pounded on Priest while Mendez and Jordan watched in shock.

Together, Delilah, Mendez, and Jordan took turns beating Priest down before Mendez covered him for a pin to win the match.

Lucia Mendez and Andre Jordan won the match and invited Delilah to celebrate with them. Paul Priest got to his feet and lashed out at Delilah. Realizing it was now three against one, Priest tried to escape but realized the steel cage was still over the ring. Priest received another beat down before Jordan had the cage door opened and Delilah and Mendez dragged Priest to the front door of the arena and dumped him out into the night.

Annika vs. Meghan DeWitt

Annika was in Meghan DeWitt’s corner at last year’s Final Round. This year, the two have become rivals.

Annika’s experience won out over DeWitt early in the match though it did not take DeWitt long to learn her opponent and fight through the offense. Both women pushed forward with aggressive offense, including a stiff elbow from DeWitt that busted Annika’s eyebrow open.

Annika dodged a flying knee and responded with an armbreaker submission. The referee watched DeWitt’s foot as it inched closer to the ropes and missed seeing her tap out. Annika released the hold, thinking she won the match. Realizing the match had not ended, Annika argued with the referee. DeWitt recovered and blindsided Annika with a flying knee. DeWitt covered Annika for a pin to win the match.

Meghan DeWitt stood tall as the winner of the match as a frustrated Annika watched from ringside.

MoW Team Championship Match

Lost Cause vs. The Door (c)

The Door looked to close out the year as MoW Team Champions but had to get through the ragtag pair of Lost Cause’s Cool Spencer and Rus Samson. Alexandra Morgan and Paisley Alden rounded out the Lost Cause team by cheering on from ringside.

The Door proved to be the more cohesive team as they kept Spencer from tagging in Samson. Malcom had Spencer in position for a powerbomb but Spencer slipped between his legs and managed to tag in Samson who exploded into the ring to take down Malcom.

Lost Cause had never tagged together before but began to show strong teamwork as the match continued. Spencer used a hanging suplex on Richter and covered for a pin but was stomped by Malcom. Samson burst into the ring causing all four men to brawl until the referee could get control.

Malcom had Samson on the mat late in the match while Spencer had been knocked down to the floor moments earlier by Richter. Malcom started to pull Samson up by his hair when he stopped to see Morgan and Alden stand up on the apron and begin caressing each other. Morgan then turned and flashed her breasts to Malcom, causing him to let go of Samson and stare at her with a grin. The referee scolded the women for interfering but the distraction worked. Samson lifted Malcom into a torture rack while Spencer recovered enough to neutralize Richter. Malcom was forced to submit and Lost Cause became the new MoW Team Champions.

Lost Cause laughed and celebrated in the ring while Richter was furious with Malcom as they left for backstage.

Loser Leaves Town Ladder Match

Cole Arcane vs. Rex Anarchy

The biggest rivalry in years, and possibly in the entirety of MoW history, came down to a truly final round. Cole Arcane and Rex Anarchy met in a ladder match with a 2024 MoW contract hanging above the ring. The winner would continue with the company. The other would have to leave.

The match started with a slow back and forth encounter until Arcane thumbed Anarchy in the eye. Arcane was determined to make Anarchy suffer and took joy in every strike and slam. Arcane brought a ladder into the ring and placed Anarchy inside of it, slamming it down several times.

Anarchy fought back and used a fisherman buster that drove Arcane into the ladder. Both men were slow to recover but Anarchy maintained offense and used the ladder to batter Arcane. A bloodied Arcane refused to stay down and traded blows with Anarchy.

Arcane brought in a second ladder and clashed with Anarchy’s ladder. The action escalated until Anarchy was knocked out of the ring. Arcane followed and drove Anarchy down on the hard floor with a running bulldog.

Arcane setup a ladder and climbed for the contract, fingers barely grazing the briefcase. Anarchy climbed into the ring and pounded on Arcane’s leg to try and stop him. In a moment of desperation, Anarchy pushed against the ladder, sending Arcane falling out of the ring to the floor. Anarchy was slow to set the ladder up and climb which allowed Arcane to stop his ascent.

The match continued with both men, battered, bloodied, and bruised, fighting in the middle of the ring and attempting to climb for the contract unsuccessfully. Anarchy used three fisherman busters on Arcane before climbing the ladder, unhooking the briefcase, and securing his place in MoW in 2024.

Rex Anarchy was a bloody mess but got his arm raised and held up his prized contract. After Anarchy left the ring, Cole Arcane grabbed a microphone and stood in the ring surveying the crowd. Arcane stood with the microphone but found no words, tossed the microphone aside, and walked out of MoW.

MoW Championship Match

Snarl vs. Dr. Insidious w/Dezzy Nightshade and The Iconoclast

Snarl was taken out on a stretcher in his previous encounter with Dr. Insidious at last year’s Final Round. This year, Dr. Insidious held the MoW Championship and Snarl was back for revenge.

Snarl came to the ring alone but the champion came flanked by Dezzy Nightshade and The Iconoclast making Dr. Insidious look more dangerous than ever.

Snarl beckoned Dr. Insidious to tie up with him in the center of the ring. Insidious got the better of Snarl and slowly wore down the legend. Snarl powered back, much to the chagrin of Nightshade and The Iconoclast. Snarl continued his momentum and Insidious up for a powerbomb. Insidious broke free but hit the referee when he landed, knocking the referee out.

With the referee down, Nightshade and The Iconoclast entered the ring and Snarl was triple teamed. Snarl took some punishment before beginning to fight his way out of the situation but The Iconoclast stunned him with a double axe handle to the upper back.

Nightshade approached Snarl and looked ready to spit purple mist but Lucia Mendez ran down to the ring and stopped her. The Iconoclast tried to get involved but was stopped by Andre Jordan. Mendez, Nightshade, Jordan, and The Iconoclast brawled outside the ring.

Back in the ring, Dr. Insidious received a barrage of attacks from Snarl before being powerbombed in the center of the ring. Snarl slapped the referee awake and dragged him over to Dr. Insidious as he covered the champion for a pin. The referee counted to three and Snarl won the match and become the new MoW Champion.

Snarl was awarded the MoW Championship belt, holding the title for the second time. Snarl reunited with his friends, Andre Jordan and Lucia Mendez, who celebrated with Snarl and the fans.

MoW Championship Match

Cate Stiles vs. Shannon Worth (c) w/Claudia Winter

Shannon Worth defeated Cate Stiles for the MoW Championship at Final Round 2021 and has carried the title for nearly two years. Stiles confronted Worth at Final Round 2022 after missing most of the year due to a severe injury caused by Worth and the rest of The Diamond Peak. Two years after their first collision, Stiles looked recapture the MoW Championship from Worth.

The match started with an even pacing until the champion broke through Stiles’s offense. Stiles had trouble stopping Worth’s attacks as Claudia Winter taunted her from ringside.

Stiles started to fight back into the match but Worth took out Worth’s legs and began to focus on Stiles’s bad leg. Worth insulted Stiles by using her own ankle lock submission against her. Stiles was able to free herself from the hold, tried to get on her feet, but stumbled. Worth called on Winter to hand her a microphone.

“You see? You just aren’t good enough. It’s my time now! I’ve proven it for two years. Stop being so stubborn and accept your place. Stay down.” -Shannon Worth

Worth stomped on Stiles repeatedly and made a half-hearted attempt to pin the challenger. Worth loomed over Stiles but got caught in a small package. Worth kicked out but when she stood up, Stiles was waiting for her and dumped her face first against the turnbuckle with a flap jack. Stiles used the opportunity to begin a fiery comeback.

Stiles favored her leg but returned the favor by attacking Worth’s ankle, setting up an ankle lock in the middle of the ring. Worth escaped but Stiles went back on the attack. Worth avoided a pin and managed to make a comeback of her own but it was short lived. Stiles ducked a spinning elbow, hit another flapjack, and locked in another ankle lock.

Worth screamed in pain as she thrashed around the mat looking for a ring rope. Winter called to Worth from ringside and reached out a hand to her. Worth came close to reaching the closest rope but Stiles dragged her back into the center of the ring. Worth tried to hold out and find a way to escape but was unable, reluctantly tapping out. Stiles was declared the winner and became the new MoW Champion.

Cate Stiles closed the show holding the MoW Championship for a record setting fourth time. Claudia Winter tended to Shannon Worth outside the ring. Worth looked up at the celebration in the ring with tears of frustration, sorrow, and pain. Stiles looked down at Worth from a turnbuckle and raised the MoW Championship high, taking her place at the top of MoW.
