MoW Wildheart Championship Tournament Continues
The quest to become the inaugural MoW Wildheart Champion continued for the next eight competitors in the tournament.
Kassidy Fortune faced Meghan DeWitt in a match that saw DeWitt bring a strong fight to the former Wildheart Wrestling Club Champion. DeWitt looked impressive with takedowns and strikes but Fortune was able to break through DeWitt’s attacks and defeated her by pinfall following a cutter.
MoW newcomer Mary Jane Elder had a big challenge against the powerful Sheena. Elder surprised Sheena early in the match with a roll up that almost secured her a win but Sheena kicked out and retaliated with a brutal clothesline. Elder put up a good fight but Sheena’s momentum was too much and she fell to a pinfall after a running boot.
Kami King and Alexandra Morgan engaged in a hard-hitting match that saw Morgan overpowering King while King chipped away at Morgan’s legs to limit her strength. Morgan came close to victory several times but King refused to stay down. Morgan had King in position for a clothesline but ran into King’s super kick. King pinned Morgan for the victory.
Annika and Aurora Starkey squared off in the final first round tournament match. The match was saw both women in a tense back-and-forth battle. Annika hit Starkey with several swift kicks to the ribs to stun her before rolling Starkey to the mat and locking in an armbreaker. Starkey submitted and the match was awarded to Annika.
Annika was confronted by Tracy Blood as she was about to walk backstage. Blood gave Annika a cold stare as she absently clapped her hands. Annika pushed past Blood.
Kassidy Fortune, Sheena, Kami King, and Annika advance to the next round of the tournament, which continues next week in Columbus, OH.
NCSF Steps Up
Rapid Fire Wrestling Correspondent Kimberly Kennedy was backstage with NCSF, Tornado and Hardcore Adam. Kennedy recapped NCSF’s win at Final Round 2022 and their desire to win the MoW Team Championship. Adam admitted his time left in the ring was running short and wasted no time challenging The Diamond Peak.
“I’ve been doing this since SCSF started in 1993. I know I can’t go forever. Tornado teamed up with me last year and the experience made me remember how great it is to compete in this sport. Before I retire, I want to carry the MoW Team Championship with this guy right here. Diamond Peak? Consider this a formal challenge. We’re coming for you. We want the titles that are around your waist.“ -Hardcore Adam
Tornado stood tall and proud next to Hardcore Adam and dared The Diamond Peak to accept their challenge.
A New Alliance
Ruslan Panov was striking a punching bag backstage when he was approached by Oleg Azarov, his opponent from last week’s show.
Azarov acknowledged that their match didn’t end the way either of them wanted and a rematch would be obvious, but he had a different idea.
“We went to war last week, you and me. I know what you are made of now. We could fight again, but, I propose an alliance. The tag team division in this company is as tough as they come. I see Oleg Azarov and Ruslan Panov busting heads and kicking ass. What do you say? You in?” -Oleg Azarov
Panov considered Azarov’s alliance and accepted, forming a powerful new tag team.
Seniority is Not a Golden Ticket
Jax Rivers approached Ridge backstage concerning comments Ridge made last week about wanting to challenge for the MoW Championship. Rivers said he respected Ridge and the long career he has had but won’t accept him trying to jump to the front of the line without a challenge.
“My opinion? You are deserving of a chance to be the champion, but I’m not going to step aside and let you take the opportunity. I want to be champion, too, and I don’t think you being a veteran in this business gives you preferential treatment.” -Jax Rivers
Ridge said he never expected special treatment but he is focused on challenging Killer Malone. Ridge suggested he and Rivers fight it out to decide who gets that opportunity.
Challenges From All Sides
Despite recent tension within The Diamond Peak, the dominant faction stood united in the ring while their leader, Claudia Winter, addressed recent challengers to their championships.
Winter began by discussing Cate Stiles. Winter admitted that everyone got excited when Stiles returned from injury and challenged MoW Champion Shannon Worth, but she said that Stiles forgot one important detail. According to Winter, Stiles is not medically cleared to compete in the ring.
“While all of you so badly want to see your hero get in this ring again, I’ve got news for you. Cate Stiles is not medically cleared to compete here. Not today, maybe not ever. She’s been on the shelf for a year, thanks to us, by the way, and that busted leg of hers is still a problem. Keep dreaming, Stiles. You are the last person on Shannon Worth’s mind these days.” -Claudia Winter
Winter shifted her attention to the challengers for the MoW Team Championship, NCSF. Winter called NCSF a feel good story and a nostalgic look at the past. She said the champions of MoW should be the future of the business, not the past. Winter assured everyone that Preston Montgomery and Pierre Laurent would secure their place as the top tag team in the world by putting wrestling’s past in the rear view.
Finally, Winter looked to MoW Champion Killer Malone and said that everyone was looking for a chance to challenge him. She heard Ridge and Jax Rivers bickering over getting the next opportunity and revealed that MoW Commissioner Tiger Johnson made a match between the two for next week’s show to determine the number one contender. Winter said it wouldn’t matter who wins, Killer Malone is ready to fight, and knock out, everyone to stands up to him.
Cole Arcane vs. Rex Anarchy
Cole Arcane and Rex Anarchy collided in what was less than a wrestling match and more of a fight. Each man held nothing back as they released all their frustrations on each other.
Anarchy threw Arcane out of the ring and battered him against the ring posts, steel steps, and a big body slam on the floor. Arcane crawled to get away but Anarchy drove a boot into his back. Anarchy pumped up the crowd while the referee called for the action to return to the ring. Anarchy turned back to Arcane and was hit with a low blow by Arcane. The referee called for a disqualification.
Arcane continued to attack Anarchy until officials arrived at ringside to separate the two men. Arcane left ringside while Anarchy slowly recovered on the floor.
